Viatores Cantantes

The Viatores Cantantes are people who love to travel and to sing. The group forms anew for each trip. The only requirement is a love of singing together. There are no auditions, but there is a preliminary meeting to assess how the singing repertoire might develop during the trip. We sing whenever the opportunity arises during our travels: when the acoustics are good, when there is a beautiful view, when we are in good company, at a celebration or festivity, or when people simply want to hear us sing. The acoustic qualities of a wide variety of spaces are only revealed when we give them a try, and sometimes there is an audience and emotional encounters.

Next spring, the Viatores Cantantes will be traveling through Sicily for the first time with Emilio and Mariska, who have returned to their homeland to become olive farmers. This trip is already fully booked.

and some impressions from past journeys:

Since 2005, Markus has been organizing trips with friends where participants become a choir along the way. The first trips were inspired by the Camino de Santiago and were planned and carried out together with geographer and biologist Felix. Together with Romanian expert and horticulturist Hans, the Viatores Cantantes have been singing their way through different parts of Romania since 2009. In Catalonia, we are traveling with the support of my local friends and experts, including alpinist and geologist Nue, linguist and astrologer Josep Maria, Laia, Albert, Iria, Jaume, Anna, Boire, and many more. As an expert on trips to South Tyrol, mountaineer and education scientist Helmut is traveling with us. Our door opener and organizer for trips to Morocco is gourmet, pianist, and music teacher Colin. On sailing trips with the tall ship Atlantis on the Baltic Sea and in Berlin, visual artist, illustrator, and drawing teacher Stephan is on board, and for trips to Georgia, we can count on Sophie and her friends in Tbilisi. My Kurdish brother and mountain guide Kemal is available with his travel agency for all destinations in Turkey and neighboring countries. On Rhodes and Symi, my friends Father Gavriil and Maria, a university music education teacher, are our guides and hosts. With him I'm working on a project 'Singing on Mount Athos' - for men only, unfortunately...
